Burot Beach is Batangas' hidden gem. Located in the town of Calatagan, this white sand beach has an environment perfect for campers and nature enthusiasts. The waters are calm and quiet, with baby waves rushing to the shore from time to time. Look above you and you will see a bright, blue sky in the morning, and a star-studded one at night. When we were there, more than five shooting stars paraded themselves before our very eyes.
Beyond the beach is a grassland, with weeds, tall grasses, and trees erected on it. It is a perfect site for collecting branches and dried leaves for your night-time bonfire. Cows may occasionally graze the area. Some dogs are also all over the place, but they need not be feared. Just make sure to stay put at your camping area at night. (My brother and I were attacked by these dogs at night when we went to the comfort rooms. I think this is where the dogs are stationed.)

Currently, Burot Beach has no amenities like clean comfort rooms, resorts, and the like. What is laid out before you - the sea, the white sand, the rocks, the grassland, the moonlight - is what you only get. It is just you and nature, for this time.
It has been reported that Henry Sy now owns this place. Henry Sy and his team are planning to develop the area and build condominiums by the beach.
Would this be good, or not? You be the judge of that. Visit Burot Beach now to see, know, and experience Batangas' hidden gem before it gets too expensive or even inaccessible to the public.
APRIL 2013 UPDATE: Burot Beach is still open to the public. Read about it here - http://www.thetravelarchives.com/2013/04/burot-beach-calatagan-batangas-2013.html

ReplyDeletewould you know kung bukas pa to sa public? wala akong makitang info sa net e. sayang naman kung sasafyain namin tapos sarado pala. -ant
ReplyDeleteSame question po. Open pa po kaya sa public to? Kasi we're planning to go there this summer. Sana di pa siya private. May news po ba kayo or any contact po sa Burot? THANKYOU! :)
ReplyDeleteAnt and Mariyaaa, unfortunately, I do not know the answers to your questions. When we were there, the security guards had SM badges on their uniforms, so it shows that Sy really does own the place. And the guard we chatted with told us that a condo would be built there. He did not elaborate on other details like when or how.
ReplyDeleteWe were there last October or November 2011.
I do not know their contact number, but here is one I found online: 09073830104
Number daw yan ng caretaker. Ask daw kung pwede pang magpunta sa Burot Beach/Elizalde Beach. Found the number from this site: http://laudemer.multiply.com/photos/album/16?&show_interstitial=1&u=%2Fphotos%2Falbum
Good luck and enjoy! :)

Been there last Holy week with the family as recommended by my sister. Ganda ng place and if you are a nature lover you will appreciate Burot beach. Open pa rin sya sa public meron lng syang entrance fee na P 65 per head. According to the guards na nsa area idedevelop sya ng SM Prime Holdings pero no idea when mgstart.
ReplyDeleteHi! I was also there last Holy Week. :) I will post about it this week. You'll notice the stark difference I encountered with this 2011 experience from my recent one..
DeleteGood to know though that it's still open to the public! :) I hope when SM develops it, sana simple pa rin siya and affordable of course.
